City of Sherman Recycling and Trash
The City of Sherman’s Solid Waste Department provides trash and recycling collection services for all Sherman residents, and has a very effective and comprehensive program for our city. Below are some details on the various aspects of the program.
Residential Trash Collection
All properties in Sherman receive weekly trash service. Residents are given large wheeled collection carts for both trash and also recycling. Each section of the city has a different day for collection of waste and all carts must be on the curbside, with trash inside the bins and the lids closed by 7am on their assigned day. Residents are also instructed to take the carts off the curb after pick-up and only have their bins on the curb on the day assigned for pick-up.
Trash is picked up weekly and Recycling is picked up every other week.
You are welcome to place yard trimmings inside the cart as well but it must be trimmed to fit inside the cart with the lid closing properly.
Basic charges for residential collections are: $14.00 plus tax per month for curbside pickup; $14.00 plus tax per month for alley service where allowed; $38.00 plus tax per month for Rollout Service. Additional trash carts may be requested by calling the Solid Waste Department at (903) 892-7288 or 892-7261. Charge for additional trash bins is $14.00 per month and an additional recycling bin is $3.01 plus tax (Don’t even ask why…).
If you have questions about what day your trash and recycling are collected you can call 903-892-7261. The route map is available here and the 2010 schedule is available here.
