God’s Tent

Our verse today is a simple one.  I’m not writing any deep thoughts about it but instead extending a two part invitation.   As Chrsitians we believe that the Bible is the Living Word of God.  What are we supossed to do with this “Word of God?”  Paul tells us exactly that in his letter to the Colossians:

“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Col. 3:16)

The word “Dwell” means to “take up residence in” or to occupy.  Literally the definition of the original Greek word was to “set up tent” or “encamp.” So the Word of God wants to live in us but the important word here is “let.”  It’s not forced on us….we have a free choice and we are asked by Paul to “Let” God in through His Word.

So my invitation is this:
1. Consider a regular reading time of the scriptures.  If it’s one simple passage a day, or an entire chapter or an entire book that’s perfectly fine.  But, make it regular.  Get used to it.  Let God in through His Word.

2.  Consider sharing your reflections on what you’ve read.  If you find a particularly meaningful verse, and you have some thoughts about it then please share those by submitting them to us and we’ll use them for this Daily Reflection.
